Down and out

I think something wrong with my dinner last nite, about 1-2 hours after I had my dinner, suddenly my stomach felt bloated, whole body felt like I'm going sick soon. I guess sore throat and cold for the past two days have already given me the early sign. Fortunately it was quite late last night when I felt it, so I just went to bed.

Woke up this morning, felt better, but still not as good as I wished for, so I stayed at home today and worked from home. It won't be effective, but I can still connect to my machine at office, I still have a phone so I can still join meetings from home, so all is not too bad. Yeah, I know, I should get more rest, promise I willsmile_angel

Microsoft Project *sigh*

I thought it'll be fun to work using Microsoft Project. It's not. I repeat, it's not. It's so confusing seeing all those numbers, names, tasks, lines, percentages, dates, all cluttered in one big interface. Even my two 19" monitors can't fit the display in.

If you thought managing numbers in Excel is hard, try managing project in Microsoft Project. It's madness. smile_angry Anyway, as the going says (or is it saying goes?), what can't kill you will only make you strong. Soon, I'll be expert in Microsoft Project hehe...smile_shades

Coming into 2008

I'm finally back to Singapore after almost three weeks of holiday in Jakarta. It was amazing how many people you can meet in the same flight as you. Out of 45 seats of the first section in my SQ flight, I knew 8 of them, wow !!! Holiday in Jakarta was well .... like holiday, wake up later, eat, shopping, going around, and all those holiday-mood activities. Of course, those are not all. I actually spent most of my time in either my parent's or my bro-in-law's offices. To be the technician. "I think this computer infected by virus, can you help to clean it up?", "Hey, I plugged in this thumbdrive to this computer, and then to that computer, and that computer got infected by virus too", or "I can't turn this computer on, any idea why?", or "Can you reinstall Windows to this machine?". You get the idea. There was this nasty virus infected all machines in my bro-in-law's office, which antivirus were unable to even detect, let alone clean it. I believe, it's one of those Made in Indonesia virus. I managed to clean them, of course

As I stay in Kelapa Gading area, the mall that I would visit would be Mall Kelapa Gading (MKG). Last year, they only had MKG 1, 2, and 3. This time round, the is MKG 5, skipping unlucky "4". When I got a Singapore acquaintance who came, I brought him to MKG. I parked my car at MKG 5, then we walked from MKG 5, to 3, 2, 1, all the way to La Piazza, and back. I'm not sure the distance, but it could have been easily 3 kms of window-shopping walk. What could have been better than having Bakmi GM noodles, J.CO. donuts, and ice-kacang-like deserts after that?

The tasty Bakmi GM

J.CO. donuts, all very sinful ...

sluuuurrrrrrppppppppp .........

I also went to Mall Taman Anggrek, and the new Mall Serpong. Mall Serpong was developed by the same developer who built Mall Kelapa Gading. As such, maybe it is not surprising to find similarities in those two.

The first one was taken from Mall Kelapa Gading while the latter was taken in Mall Serpong, over 50km away from Mall Kelapa Gading. Spot the differences hehe...

I was told off by the security guard that I couldn't take a picture of this shopping mall from its front, but I can take anywhere else. Strange, what's so special about the front-part eh?

You'll also find The biggest stationery store in Indonesia, that's how a store in Mall Serpong entered itself into Indonesia's Museum of Record (aka MURI). It's definitely spacious, but I feel the space could be better used.

The store is big enough that they have a dedicated activity centre for kids, just to keep them busy while adults go shopping.

My niece who certainly starting to get very talkative, and kay-poh, just like me ... :p

You know you're tired when ...

you start to talk nonsense, when you start not making sense, when you can't construct a proper English sentence. *haiz* Today afternoon, I was in a conference call. Midway through the meeting when I was talking, the moment I stopped talking, suddenly 3 persons over the phone gone quiet, the other 5 in the same room as me looked at me, baffled. Few seconds later, my boss told me, "Sorry, we didn't quite caught what you said. Can you repeat that?" I repeated, and somehow whatever I said didn't make sense to them. After the conference call, there was at least one occurrence when I talked to my colleague, and he gone, "huh?"

Tomorrow, I am supposed to attend a meeting at church in the afternoon, followed by young adults fellowship, before finally a drama rehearsal for Christmas Gospel Rally that's coming up in a week time. Looks like I may not be able to attend them, we'll see tomorrow.

The day to remember

The first year was a dream come true,
The second was practically a nightmare,
The third was a reality,
What will the fourth year turns out to be?

SBS Transit iris success story

Time and again, SBS Transit iris has been a great help for me. This morning, I was getting ready to get to work. I was still at home around 8.25 AM. Bus 502 that I usually take only comes around 8.35 AM, so I'm still slowly getting myself ready for work. However, when I checked iris, it said 502 is coming in 3 minutes time. I was like "What??!!!" I quickly get my shoes one, took all my belongings, and dashed downstairs. I knew I couldn't miss this bus, or else I have to wait for another 30 minutes. As we all have experienced before, all things around us don't quite cooperate well when we're in rush, right? As I was waiting at the lift lobby, all three lifts were going up to 20th floor. I was like "C'mon, faster faster". After about 20 seconds later, one of the lift arrived, I went in, and pressed level 1. It went down, and stopped at level 3. A lady was standing at the lift's door, but didn't come in, saying "Sorry, later." *sigh*

The moment the lift's door opened at level 1, I ran to the bus stop. I think I'll probably need less than 30 seconds to run to the bus stop. From across the road, I saw bus 502 was already on the bus stop. Fortunately for me, the bus couldn't move because of the traffic light and all other vehicles in front of it. Ten seconds later I was already in the bus, great.

In the evening, I alighted in Clementi to get my dinner. There are basically two buses that I normally take home, 105 or 52, both having EXACT same route from Clementi to Jurong East Interchange. I was checking iris again, and it reported 105 was arriving and 52 in 3 minutes. Excellent. The moment 105 came, I was walking towards the bus, when I realized there are crowds heading for that same bus. One auntie ran from behind me, and tried to squeeze her way into the crowd and into the bus, and I mean *squeeeeeeezeeeeeee*. Unusually crowded, that empty bus was squeezed to full, really full. Everyone hopped onto that bus, everyone, except me, knowing that after so many minutes it took for so many people to get into a bus, 52 would be just around the corner. I was right, or rather iris was right, just at that time when everyone has squeezed into 105, 52 sped onto that bus stop, I peacefully took that bus, empty bus with LOTS of seats. The second 52 left that Clementi's bus stop, I glanced behind, 105 was only about to leave the bus stop, crowded. I am so grateful.
