Avanade Success Story

When a well-known web site writes good things about the company you work for, it really helps to boost morale. It feels great when other people see so high of the company you're in, like "It is not Avanade’s undoubted technological expertise which fascinates me, its the organisations ability to deliver outstanding profitability to its shareholders and world-class delivery capability to its customers.".

One week update

federer wimbledon 2007
Since last week's lunch at River City, it has been a busy week for me. First, the nights were spent watching Wimbledon, in particular Men's Singles Final between Roger Federer (world number 1) and Rafael Nadal (world number 2). The match went very very tense, with emotions flying up and down. Federer won the first set 7-6 after a thrilling tie-breaks, but Nadal won the second set 6-4, then another tie break which Federer won, but again Nadal fought back to equal the set by winning the fourth set 6-2. Federer record in 5 sets are 9 wins to 10 losses, whereas Nadal's 9 wins to 2 losses, so the odds are in Nadal's favour. Federer was down 15-40 twice and Nadal just needed one point to break in the final set. Instead, Federer saved all four break points chances, and broke Nadal in the sixth game to lead 4-2. diehard4posterMinutes later, at 5-2, a first championship point for Federer was saved by Nadal, but he couldn't prevent world number 1 from getting his fifth consecutive Wimbledon's trophy on a second break point. The match ended 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, 2-6, 6-2 to the champion. Okay, before I sound like a sports news reporter, I'll stop here, but it was a really really thrilling match. The best tennis match I've ever watched so far.

On Friday, I also went for Die Hard 4. The movie supposedly started at 8.50pm, we came in at 8.55 pm, and the movie has already started. Apparently, I have missed three scenes Very good movie it was.

Saturday was Iwan and Sari wedding high-tea reception. The first wedding that I attended that has drama in it. Good job for the organizers. Of course, congrats Iwan and Sari, not sure if any of you will ever read this anyway. A 7-years long distance relationship is never easy, and I salute both of you for pulling it through.

Monday was Monday blue.
Tuesday was normal.
Wednesday, another lunch, this time I went to Mustard's at Little India for authentic Bengal and Punjabi food. Needless to say I didn't enjoy it, but it's a good experience nonetheless. Will I go back? Not a chance. Will I recommend? Well, if you like Indian food, I guess so

harry potter
At night, I went for Harry Potter movie. Quite short I felt, but the movie was just okay I felt. I'm still looking forward to Transformers though. Settled dinner at Kenny Rogers accompanied by all those romantic oldies song haha... Great day, I truly enjoyed today

Training at SMU

I have training for today and tomorrow held at SMU Social Science and Economics campus. Nice campus, right in the middle of the city. Here are some shots I took. Too bad the university have gone into holiday, so I practically saw no one except for those who are doing training today as well (I saw UOB M9 preparation course at level 4, and Starhub Leadership Programme at level 5)My Name and the class

Great view from the classroom out to the National Museum of Singapore.

Outside the classroom, a very modern view and layout, put NTU classroom during my era to shame

Goodbye Pdt. Amin Tjung M. Div.

A pastor who faithfully served God, a pastor who remembered each and everyone of us by name out of hundreds or thousands he knew, a pastor who shared the Good News about Jesus Christ to anyone and everyone he met, no matter how sick he was, no matter how hard it was for him to just stand up, a pastor who taught us to have strong faith, no matter what circumstances in our life are, a person who certainly have made a difference in this world, who have touched the life and hearts of so many people, a pastor who have brought so many people back to Christ. The world need more people like him.

However, God has other plan. When I visited him in Tan Tock Seng hospital last night, he was struggling in pain, unable to breathe, many internal organs has failed. When we visited him, we gathered around his bed, he can't talk, but with his hand could only convey message: "Everyone of you ......" He couldn't continue, clearly in pain. We sang songs, we prayed, we cried. He couldn't sleep whole night, until about 8.20AM this morning, everyone in the room started singing praise and worship songs. After a couple of songs, about 8.30 AM, when the hymn "Bapa Sorgawi memeliharaku (Heavenly Father taking care of me)", he held his wife hand very tightly, and seconds later slowly, peacefully, let go to be with our Father in Heaven. Everyone in the room cried, sad, lost, at the same time relieved that his suffering has ended.

What's left now is his legacy, the memories that he has brought us, the role model, the example of a husband, a father, and most importantly God's servant. We will certainly miss you, rest in peace, and we'll see you again in heaven one day Rev. Amin Tjung (24 October 1965 - 22 July 2007)

Please pray for his family, his wife Bu Lita, and three sons, Ezra, Paul, and Kharis.

Ex-SMUK 5 - 1999 batch in Singapore reunion

It has been eight years since we graduated from SMUK 5 back in 1999. Since then, some of us have ventured to study in NTU or NUS. Some have gone to other countries to study, while most people stayed in Jakarta for further study. Last Friday, after over a month trying to organize a reunion for those in Singapore, most of us managed to gather in Modesto's Vivo City. So glad that so many people turned up, some already brought their husband/wife/husband-to-be/wife-to-be. Well, you get the idea. It was fun, really fun, and we must do this more often

After pizzas, pastas, ice creams, crepes, the bill only amount to $14 per person, a very reasonable amount for this kind of place

Here are some shots we took.

The power of love

From Rev. Ayub Yahya's blog post, Bertarung Dengan Macan (Fighting with Tiger), he said:

Cinta kerap memberikan energi maha dahsyat untuk melakukan hal-hal luar biasa. Tapi tidak jarang juga membuat kita terlalu dikuasai rasa. Menjadi tidak rasional. Hingga sebaliknya malah melakukan hal-hal bodoh. Yang membawa penyesalan.
(Love tends to give terrific energy to do extra-ordinary actions. but not seldom also make ourselves too emotionally-attached. becoming irrational. thus on the contrary do stupid actions. which brings regrets)

Singtel closing paging network

From 9 July 2008, SingTel has announced that it will close down its paging network. Really, in the world where you get $8 mobile phone and free 500 SMS a month, do anyone still use pager? Come to think of it, I have not seen that little device for probably since the turn of the millennium.
