Church Outing on Labor's Day

We were meant to go to MacRitchie Reservoir for church outing today, I reached there about 8.15 AM only to know that MacRitchie outing has been moved because it was raining this morning, and I was asked to help out to SMS people in the registration list to let them know of venue change. We moved the outing to Bugis where our church office is located, sang a few praise and worship songs, listened to short sermon, and of course get to know each other. After that, we walked to an empty space near Esplanade for games and more singings. The games played were hulla-hoop and tug of war. Here are most of the photos I took today using my phone. You can't see me in the picture because I'm behind the camera always haha...

The most fun tug of war was of course between Sunday school childrens, where no one was willing to give up, and it's not a coincidence that their tug was the longest among all.

After tiring and fun tug of war, some rushed for an uncle there who sells ice cream. Imagine hundreds of people crowd to buy ice creams haha... Of course, many headed straight for lunch, sitting on Bayfront, enjoying the sea view

The panorama shot of the bay I took using the Panorama-shot feature of my phone.

A Giant Story

It was another evening when I went to Giant Hypermarket to get some food and drinks to fill my fridge at home. However, a couple of things notable happen today from a simple groceries shopping.

First, this is the first time I found something EXPIRED in a supermarket. And it's an expensive Tropicana 100% Premium Orange Juice that has expired since 23 Apr 2007!!! I immediately brought the item to Giant's staff there, which promptly checked the rest in the shelf, and trash the expired item. A "Thank You" was a nice gesture from him. Remember to check the expired date of items you buy the next time you visit a supermarket.

Second, it so happened that today is the first Wednesday on a month, where Giant is having this "Bring Your Own Bag" day. The cashier asked me if I would need a plastic bag. "Yes" I thought, "Just use one plastic bag will do." I replied her. Maybe I should bring my own bag next time I go to Giant, as Asen did.

Third, my shopping amounted to a nice $9.99!! hehe....

Life lessons

Everyone of us signed up (or more like was signed up) for life lessons classes when we came to earth. There are many modules to take, and each of us takes different modules. Some of us takes Love 101, some takes Anger Management class, some takes Kindness 201 class, some takes Generous 104 class, Faith and Hope class, etc. We went for kindergarten, primary school, secondary school, university, and so on. Many went on to excel in these classes, move from one class to another more advanced classes in such a short time. However, many of us failed and failed again the exam that we remains in the same class over many many years. Life classes is very similar to classes in school. You pass the test, you go to next class. If you fail, you have to repeat again. Same thing in life, we are taught lessons along the path of our life. If we learn our lessons, we advance to the next class with tougher lessons waiting for us. If we don't, somehow we will be tested again and again until we learn our lessons. The test will usually come back again, but often in different forms.

When we don't learn our lessons, we are sprinkled with sand on our head. If we don't realize that, peebles will be falling on our head. If we still don't learn our lesson and change, bigger stones will be sent down, bigger rocks, hammers, logs, trees, mountains, and the warning gets bigger and bigger by the day until we learn our lessons. And it's not like we can avoid to take these classes. We can't, we have to take them. Those who tries to skip these classes are destroying their future, because you can't possibly go for university lessons when you haven't even passed your Math 101. It's natural to believe wonderful things in life don't come easy.

Corrinne May wrote in her blog: "We all get pruned in some way or another. Some of us are physically pruned, ... some emotionally pruned, perhaps having to be pruned of something we were emotionally dependent on ..... Pruning can involve discomfort, even pain, through pain sometimes only we appreciate the fact that God must do everything."

A comment in her blog by Francis mentioned: "The more we resist from being pruned due to fear of leaving our comfort zone and also pain; we can never see the lesson that is to be learnt. When we finally throw the towel and accept things, we start to accept getting pruned and the transformation in spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally begin."

I agree.

"because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
      and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son
" (Hebrews 12:6)

Spiderman III

Reviews from others I heard before I watched it ranges from lowly 2 stars to complete 5 stars.
I'll give it 5 stars for the 2 hours 15 minutes movie. Great to watch, the action, the emotion, all that was blended into the movie. Granted, some parts are draggy, but overall, I'm very satisfied with the movie.

Highly recommended to watch if you have not

Why feel troubled?

Don't know where I shall start. These past few days I feel troubled. Many things are running through my heads. Probably worry about too much things. Is it work related? I don't think so. Personal problem? Maybe? There have been lots and lots of warning signs put for me over the months, but probably only last night I started to realize, started to pull everything together, arranged the bits and pieces of my thoughts and experiences to get a clearer picture of what has happened. Still not sure if I'll change for the better, well I guess I will, it's just the matter of time. You said that I like improvements, I do, and I will keep improve for the better. After all, realizing mistake is a crucial step towards change, it's the people who doesn't learn from mistake who doesn't change, and thus keep making the same mistake again and again.

I was told today, look back at my early days, when I was 5, 6, 10, 15, 17, 20 years old, what are the crisis that I faced in my life? If I were to draw all of them into one picture, they said it'll fit nicely into one picture, that without realizing, the crisis that people face over the span of their life tends to be the same. Once we have identified what our character is, match them with the crisis that we faced, it'll be easy to understand why we responded the way we responded to the crisis that we faced.

Back to myself, people face troubles, problems (I prefer the word challenges actually) in their life. I feel that I am troubled too, but the thing is I can't seem to understand why, the thing that came are all too sudden, too fragmented, too hazy, too .......... . However, despite all these, I'm glad that I kept going back again and again to God, knowing that He knows what's best in His time. It's just that I'm not sure if I can wait for His time. C'mon c'mon be patient, and everything will finally fall into place !!!

Be patient be patient to wait for His time, keep the faith ... when ... when ...

Sorry for the messy, unstructured post. It's a ramblings after all :p

But my righteous one[a] will live by faith.
   And if he shrinks back,
      I will not be pleased with him."
[b] [Hebrews 10:38]

Super Duper Tuper Euper Luper

Yesterday, I changed my MSN nick name to "Super Duper Tuper Luper Sleepy". Trust me, I anyhow typed the "Tuper and Luper". Sometime in the afternoon, eMKa messaged me, saying: "You missed Euper there between Tuper and Luper".
Me: "How can?"
MK: "Somehow I see the pattern there:
S atu (one) -> S uper
D ua (two) -> D uper
T iga (three) -> T uper
E mpat (four) -> E uper
L ima (five) -> L uper"
Me: "Woah, brilliant!!!" And immediately I changed my nick name to Super Duper Tuper Euper Luper Sleepy hahaha......

Two minutes later:
MK: "Ehhhhh........ got a better one"
Me: "What?"
MK: "Continue the pattern:
S atu (one)
D ua (two)
T iga (three)
E mpat (four)
L ima (five)
E name (six)
T ujuh (seven)
D elapan (eight)
S embilan (nine)

And you'll get: Super Duper Tuper Euper Luper Euper Tuper Duper Super.
It's a Palindrome, can you believe it?"
Me: "-.-!!"

A question on betrayal

Let me start with getting opinions, thoughts, ideas from my readers here to this question below:
What will you do, when someone you love the most, betrays you?

I'll pen down my thoughts in a few days, but I would like to get some inputs from all of you first

An answer on betrayal

betrayalFew days ago, I posted a question on betrayal to you all here. The responses were insightful for sure. It ranges from forgive and forget, four-step process of forgiving and making peace, keeping trust, until a quote from Mother Theresa. Thanks all for the responses.

Let me start with the background. Last Monday, I was watching Mars Vs Venus in Channel 8. The episode was about a wife who thought her husband cheated on her, betrayed her by having affair with another woman (who coincidentally is her best friend). Her husband pleaded innocence (and he is) but his wife, even after knowing the truth, refused to forgive him and filed for divorce.

Somehow that episode left an impression on my mind. On my way back home, I was thinking about it. Why is it so hard to forgive, even after knowing that her husband was innocent? What strucked me was the follow up that crossed my mind. How about us, humans, before God? Admit it, we all have betrayed God, we all "had affair" with others, we sin, we ignore God, we wanted a "divorce" from God as we do not want God's intervention in our lives. And what's the response from God? What the LOVE Himself do? He has the right to punish us for all of our mistakes, to throw us into a fiery furnace, but He decided to send His Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to save us. He sent His Grace.

That, to me at least, is a demonstration of what a true LOVE is. We disappointed Him again and again, we don't deserve Him, but He chose to keep loving us, no matter what. (on the other side of the coin, when we have used up all our chances and don't repent, He will STOP loving us and send us to hell). I feel that I am currently in the process of being moulded to learn this very aspect in my life. Can I love those who don't love me? Can I pray for those who have hurt me? Can I keep loving those who have disappointed me again and again? Can I keep trusting the person who have abused my trust time and again? Can I keep giving chances one after another even when they all have been squandered? That is EXACTLY what God does, He gives me chances after chances, but can I extend the same towards others?

"If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' do that." (Luke 6:32-33)

How do you group Messenger contacts?

WLM8.5
Windows Live Messenger (previously MSN Messenger) allows us to categorize and groups our contacts into their respective groups. My current groups are admittedly outdated, and screams re-organizing. So, here I am, polling you all again, how do you groups your contacts in Messenger (be it Windows Live or Yahoo)? Is it based on groups like Company Name, School Name? Or based on graduation year? Or based on nationality? Or how?

Btw, if you are wondering why my Windows Live Messenger looks different, it is because it IS different. It is the upcoming Windows Live Messenger 8.5, currently still in Beta.
